To get there: From downtown, take Columbia Street heading West. A few hundred meters after the steep section separating downtown from lower Sahali, keep in the left lane and prepare to turn left onto Summit Dr. (If you’re taking the highway from downtown, take exit 370 to Summit Drive and then turn left onto Summit.) Continue up Summit Drive until turning left onto Whiteshield Cres. If you pass the Sahali Fellowship Church and Daycare, you’ve gone too far! The parking area for this entrance is immediately on your left when you turn onto Whiteshield. Or get directions from Google here.
From the parking area, enter the gate at the front and follow the large wide trail labeled Grasslands Trail. Continue down this trail until you see a large fork to the left and some signage. Follow the Grasslands Loop trail around to the left as it loops around and overlooks the highway. Here is where the best views are for sure! Continue following the trail as it loops around and follow it past the benches and back onto the main trail.
This is a super short trail that is perfect for beginner snowshoers! Most of the time you probably don’t even need snowshoes as it is a pretty popular park. However, when there’s a fresh dump of snow, this trail will be perfect for viewing a snow blanketed Kamloops. Peterson Creek is an off-leash dog park, so you can definitely bring your furry friends! Make sure to pack a camera as well as the views are spectacular!
