Highlight: Great early season snowshoe trail! Treacherous once it gets icy.
To get there: McConnell Lake Provincial Park is about a 30 minute drive out of Kamloops towards Merritt on the old Lac le Jeune highway. It’s a beauty of a drive. Get directions here.
We parked just outside the park on the side of the road due to the snow. Make sure you are well prepared for the road conditions. Follow the roadway down into the park. We always take the trail towards the left and loop around the lake.
This trail was spectacular today! Fresh powdery snow, and gorgeous weather! This trail is best in the early season and after fresh dumps of snow. As mentioned, it can become quite treacherous when the snow gets a chance to melt and freeze again. Make sure you watch where you step because there a numerous roots and rocks on the path. Be careful and be prepared! Enjoy!
