Trail Name: Tower Classic Snowshoe
Distance: 3.22 km
Time: 1.5 hrs
Difficulty: Medium
Cell Service: Yes
Trail: single track through the sagebrush
Highlight: A new area of town to explore!
To get there: Lac du Bois lake is about a 20 minute drive from downtown Kamloops. To get there, head over to the North Shore, and through to Bachelor Heights. Follow Batchelor Hills Dr all the way through the residential area. This road turns into Lac Du Bois Rd at the cattle guard. Continue on Lac Du Bois Rd for about 700m and turn left down towards to the parking area and trail sign. Park here. Or get the directions here.
From the parking area, head through the gate and down the main road in front of you. Keep and eye out on your right for the Tower Classic trail sign. Follow this trail through the sage brush as it climbs up towards the tower. About 1 km in you should see the second trail sign, from here you can see another one below you beside the gully. The third trail sign is a four-way intersection between the Tower Classic and Naked Pistol trails. Continue straight through the intersection to continue climbing the side of the hill ahead. From here, we got a little confused as to where exactly the trail went and made up our own trail. Feel free to follow it if it’s still there when you head out. We ended up doing a small loop and then heading back down the trail.
Having never explored the Bachelor Hills area before, we weren’t entirely sure where the trails lead and it can be hard to follow them in the snow. However, there are many trails in this area to explore and no chance you’ll get lost as it is pretty wide open! This area would be beautiful on a sunny day and awful on a windy one. There is an outhouse at the trailhead if needed. A great spot to explore if you never have before, or are wanting to switch things up! We can’t wait to explore this area some more this year! Happy trails!
