McConnell Lake Loop

Trail Name: McConnell Lake Loop
Distance: 3.7 km
Time: 1.5 hrs
Difficulty: Easy
Cell Service: Unknown
Trail: Primitive, clearly defined
Highlight: Nice loop around the lake, very nice in the summer!

To get there: McConnell Lake Provincial Park is about a 30 minute drive out of Kamloops towards Merritt on the old Lac le Jeune highway. It’s a beauty of a drive. Get directions here.

Park in the recreation site, and head down towards the lake and day use area. We’d advise heading to the left around the lake. The trail head is on the left, marked by an obvious sign. The trail is quite primitive, watch for tree roots, rocks and uneven terrain. The trail loops around the lake so you shouldn’t have a problem navigating it!

This trail is perfect for bringing the family (older kids or kids that can be carried), and dogs. It would be especially nice during the summer and fall. Winter and spring can be treacherous as the ice melts on the path and turns into pure ice.

  2. Yup. Your post is helpful! Thanks

  3. This is a wonderful trail. The abundant tree roots along with the short uphills and downhills make the trail mentally and physically engaging but not difficult. Thank you for the terrific website!
