Rim Loop

Trail Name: Rim Loop
Distance: 2.5 km
Time: About 35 minutes
Difficulty: Easy
Cell Service: Yes
Trail: Narrow single track above the Valleyview silt cliffs
Highlights: A lovely easy trail high above Valleyview with great views of the city!

To get there: Head East along the Trans-Canada Hwy. Turn right onto Highland Dr. Follow this through the 4 way stop and take the following left towards the Valleyview Arena. You should see the sign for the Valleyview Nature Park on your left. Park here. Or get directions from Google Maps here.

From the Valleyview Nature Park entrance, follow the Sagebrush trail up the valley. Keep an eye out for the easy trail up to the Rim Loop which should be coming up on your left. From there, we took the trail towards the left, but it’s a loop so you could go either way. Follow the loop around, but be careful as most of the trail runs along the edge of the silt cliffs. It may not be a good choice for those afraid of heights or steep drop offs! At the end of the loop, be sure to keep an eye out for the sign heading back down to the Sagebrush trail.

This trail is a great trail for the early spring as it is completely in the sunshine! The trail is likely to dry up fast and be ready for hiking. In the summer however, make sure you wear sunscreen and bring water as there is absolutely no shade on this hike. While the hike itself is considered easy, we would not advise bringing little children as the cliffs are definitely not safe for the young ones. This park is an off-leash dog park, so be sure to bring your furry friends as well!
